The North Texas Crime Commission’s Law Enforcement Training Committee (LETC) has made tremendous progress this year toward its mission of enhancing readiness, building leadership, supporting officer wellness, and strengthening trust between law enforcement and the communities we serve.
CRASE Training: Thousands Reached in June
In partnership with ALERRT, LETC coordinated one of the largest Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) trainings ever held in North Texas. On June 28, more than 1,000 people attended free training sessions across 30 locations in the Metroplex. These workshops provided civilians with practical, life-saving strategies to respond during an active shooter event, empowering communities and reinforcing NTCC’s proactive commitment to public safety.
Leadership Development: Planning Underway
Planning is underway for LETC’s Leadership Development Program, a new initiative designed to prepare the next generation of law enforcement leaders. The program will bring together rising leaders from across North Texas for structured mentorship and training focused on leading during crisis, promoting wellness, and navigating today’s complex public safety challenges. The first cohort is expected to launch in early 2026.
Officer Wellness: Summit Coming This Fall
LETC is also preparing to host its first Officer Wellness Summit in fall 2025. The summit will gather Chiefs, DAs, federal partners, and command staff to focus on removing stigma around mental health, addressing barriers to wellness, and equipping leaders to support their teams. With corporate and community partners joining the effort, this summit will be a major step toward a healthier, more resilient law enforcement community.
